Accounts Manager – Job Description
Position Overview
The Accounts Manager is responsible for overseeing the organisation’s financial operations, ensuring accurate accounting practices, timely reporting, and effective budget management. This role manages accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and financial compliance while supporting strategic decision-making through reliable financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting

Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

Ensure compliance with accounting standards, taxation obligations, and regulatory requirements.

Support annual budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis.

Maintain accurate financial records for audits and internal reviews.
Accounts Receivable & Payable

Monitor customer accounts, follow up on outstanding payments, and manage credit control.

Review, verify, and process supplier invoices and payments.

Maintain vendor and client account statements and ensure data accuracy.
Cashflow & Budgeting

Manage cashflow planning and ensure adequate funds for operations.

Track operational expenditures and ensure adherence to budgets.

Provide recommendations for cost optimisation and financial efficiency.
Team Leadership & Collaboration

Supervise and mentor accounting staff (if applicable).

Coordinate with internal departments (Sales, HR, Procurement, Operations) for smooth financial processes.

Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and banks.
Systems & Process Improvement

Maintain accounting systems and ensure accuracy of financial data.

Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve workflows.

Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies.
Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

CPA/CA qualification (preferred but not mandatory).

Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in accounting or financial management.

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, ERP systems).

Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.

High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
